Parking Systems

Launch of industry's first multi-level parking equipment with flood prevention specifications

Protects parked vehicles from frequent flood damage and shortens recovery time

January 28, 2021

ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, President and CEO Isogawa Tatsuyuki) has recently added "flooding prevention specifications" to the lineup of the space creation parking system "Loop Park", and will be launching in February 2021. Sales will start from the 1st of the month.
A total of approximately 580,000 mechanical car parking systems have been installed in Japan, but the "flooding prevention specifications" that we have recently developed are the first multi-level mechanical car parking systems in Japan to incorporate flood prevention measures. By adopting a structure in which the vehicle is always parked at a height of at least 2 meters above the ground, it is able to reduce flooding damage compared to conventional models, even in low-lying areas. In addition, we took general measures to prevent flooding, such as relocating the control panel, which is normally installed near the ground, to a higher location, and using highly waterproof switches for switches. In addition, in addition to the normal operation panel, a standby machine has been installed, allowing for a structure that allows for quicker recovery after flooding subsides, compared to conventional models.

In recent years, flood damage caused by typhoons and record heavy rains has been occurring frequently in various parts of the country, and flooding damage due to rising river waters is also increasing. According to the Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (A-PLAT) provided by the National Institute for Environmental Studies, 1,692 municipalities, or more than 90% of municipalities nationwide, have experienced at least one flood in the past 10 years. The situation is such that it is desirable to implement various measures to minimize the damage caused by natural disasters.

Our company's Management philosophy is to "continue to support a safe society and comfortable life, and contribute to people's happiness," and Parking Systems Division has always been dedicated to "protecting customers' cars (property)." We have developed products based on a design philosophy that emphasizes natural disaster countermeasures such as earthquake countermeasures. In the future, we will continue to make efforts to reduce disaster damage, such as by rolling out the recent "flooding prevention specifications" to other models.
