Started sales of Japan's first "auto door closing system (automatic door closing device)" for mechanical car parking systems

“ELEPARK” becomes even safer, more convenient, and more comfortable

June 10, 2020

ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, President and CEO: Isogawa Tatsuyuki) has announced that it will be offering the industry's first mechanical car parking systems elevator type car parking system type parking equipment, “ELEPARK” F Type.'' We have developed an "auto door close system" that automatically closes the door after leaving the warehouse. We will start accepting orders from June 22, 2020.

With existing elevator type car parking system, when exiting the parking lot, the driver must first get out of the parking lot, visually check that the tower is safe, and then operate the control panel to close the door, but with the introduction of the newly developed system. This allows the driver to leave the vehicle directly after exiting the garage, eliminating the need for the troublesome operation of "closing the door."

In the past, sensors such as phototubes and infrared passive sensors were used to assist drivers in confirming safety, but they had to rely on the user's visual inspection to confirm safety when closing the door. The most important feature of the newly developed system is that it can reliably check the safety of the entire entry surface by combining interior equipment that limits the range of movement of people with LiDAR (laser scanner), eliminating the need for visual confirmation. This is a feature. In addition, in terms of safety, we became the first company in Japan to obtain certification from the Multi-story Parking Industry Association (a public corporation) in May, and are scheduled to receive certification from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in June.

Since developing the first mechanical car parking systems in 1964, we have developed a variety of mechanical car parking systems with the aim of creating a comfortable urban environment. We currently boast the top share in Japan for elevator-type mechanical car parking systems, and in recent years have been focusing on proposing safe and comfortable parking equipment to the Southeast Asian region.

We will continue to contribute to the provision of safer and more comfortable urban infrastructure by leveraging the technological capabilities we have cultivated over the years and new technological innovations.

[Development background]

  1. 1 Since around 2015, the certification standards for parking equipment have been reviewed, and it has become mandatory that only the person who makes the first call can close the parking equipment door *. Therefore, if a user leaves the parking lot without closing the door, the next user will not be able to close the door and leave the parking lot, creating a new problem and dangerous situation. .
  2. 2There were cases in which visual safety checks were insufficient (forgetting to check, insufficient checking due to habituation), and there was a risk that this could lead to accidents, such as people becoming trapped inside the tower.
  3. 3Many users have expressed requests such as "It's a hassle to have to get out and close the door every time you leave the warehouse'' and "I want to reduce the time it takes to enter and exit the warehouse as much as possible.''
  • * The "Certification Standards for Safety Functions of Mechanical Parking Devices" states that "When closing the entrance/exit door after entering or exiting a vehicle, the user, vehicle, or carrier must be re-authenticated, and the If the certification does not match the registration, the entrance/exit door shall not close.'' This is a specification that prevents anyone other than the person who left the vehicle from closing the door. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism amended the Enforcement Regulations of the Parking Lot Act in January 2015, and when installing a new mechanical parking device, it is necessary to meet the safety standards established based on the contents of the same certification standards. certification.

1. Features of "Auto Door Close System"

This is Japan's first automatic door-closing system for mechanical car parking systems certified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, which simultaneously provides security, safety, and convenience, as well as the quick exit that users have desired.

  1. 1 Prevents unsafe conditions and machine stoppages due to forgetting to close the gate. Eliminates the element of worry that users may have forgotten to close after departure.
  2. 2Blind spots are eliminated by constructing an interior that limits the movement range of people and a sensor system that detects the entire entry surface. As a result, the system reliably detects the presence of people and cargo, and automatically closes the door after confirming safety, thereby avoiding the risk of being trapped.
  3. 3 "Visual safety checks" and "door closing operations" are no longer necessary, reducing the time it takes for users to exit the warehouse.
