Ceremony to Commemorate the Production of the 50 Flying Boats
On February 20, 2020, a ceremony was held at the Aircraft Division’s Konan Plant (Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture) to commemorate the production of 50 flying boats.
This ceremony celebrated the 50th flying boat manufactured by ShinMaywa Industries, with the first being the PS-1 aircraft that was delivered to the Defense Agency (the present-day Ministry of Defense) in 1968, and the 50th being the seventh US-2 STOL Search and Rescue Amphibian, which took its maiden flight in 2020.
The seventh US-2 is scheduled to be delivered to the Ministry of Defense this spring, and the eighth is current in production at the Konan Plant.
