On October 5, 2023, Fuji Design Co., Ltd.(Head Office: Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture, President: Morihiko Sugino, hereinafter referred to as "Fuji Design"), an investor in ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, President: Isogawa Tatsuyuki, hereinafter referred to as "our company") and a joint venture in the carbon fiber recycling business, was awarded the "2023 Good Design Award" by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion for its recyclable carbon fiber fabric Kobatron. Fuji Design has received the "2023 Good Design Award" sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.
This project proposes a technology to reuse CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), which has been considered difficult to recycle, and a recyclable carbon fiber fabric recycled through this process. While the use of CFRP in mobility vehicles such as EVs and aircraft is progressing to reduce environmental impact through weight reduction, they are also facing the issue of mass disposal. This proposal is the world's first technology that uses precision carbonization, a unique method of extracting carbon fibers as long fibers, to allow them to be reused with virtually no deterioration in performance, and the impact it will have on the world in the future is immeasurable. do not have.
