ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka-shi, Hyogo, Japan; President & CEO: Tatsuyuki Isogawa; hereinafter "ShinMaywa") has signed a strategic business alliance with EMDEP Group (hereinafter "EMDEP"), a worldwide Spanish leading company for wiring harness assembly and test equipment, in May 2023 as part of efforts toward further global deployment of automatic wire processing systems, the flagship product of its Industrial Machinery Systems Division. The two companies will jointly exhibit at the 38th INTERNEPCON JAPAN being held at Tokyo Big Sight from January 24 to 26, 2024, with EMDEP's systems being exhibited at ShinMaywa's booth, as the first opportunity to specifically show the relationship between the two companies.

1. Background of the business alliance

EMDEP is a global manufacturer of harness test equipment, with 21 production locations around the world and a robust distribution network in the European market. Meanwhile, ShinMaywa is an established manufacturer of automatic wire processing systems that process wires as part of the manufacturing process of wiring harnesses, with a high share of the Asian and North American market, mainly among Japanese harness manufacturers. Amid the reorganization of the automotive industry, this business alliance seeks to enhance the presence and influence of both companies in the global market for wiring harnesses and expand the scale of sales through cooperation between the two companies to apply their respective strengths.

ShinMaywa, which is promoting sustainability management, will also utilize EMDEP's locations to promote various measures toward achieving carbon neutrality.

Going forward, ShinMaywa will set aside a regular corner of its company display area to display certain EMDEP products and continue to work on strengthening the relationship between the companies, including joint participation in major exhibitions to create opportunities for direct promotion to ShinMaywa's customers.

2. Main scope of alliance

  1. 1 Sharing of distribution channels and materials in regions where the two companies have influence
  2. 2 Production of components for certain ShinMaywa systems at EMDEP's plants
  3. 3Product promotion and commercialization support in countries and regions where the two companies have track records
  4. 4Mutual provision of technological services related to after-sales services and maintenance

3. The comments from the both companies

Satoshi Nii, Managing Executive Officer and President of Industrial Machinery Systems Division, ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd.

The two companies are also considering further expanding the scope of cooperation. By using the materials, distribution channels, production and service locations, and other business aspects of the two companies, ShinMaywa will further expand its product lineup in the automatic wire processing system business as well as accelerate its full-scale entry into the European market and its global expansion as stated in its Long-term management plan [SG-Vision 2030] to advance transportation infrastructure.
