Aircraft Passenger Boarding Bridge

Aircraft Passenger Boarding Bridge "Full-automatic Docking System" Commences Operation at Osaka International (Itami) Airport

June 23, 2022

ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka-shi, Hyogo; President & CEO: Tatsuyuki Isogawa) will be introducing a Full-automatic Docking System - an aircraft passenger boarding bridge developed by ShinMaywa Industries - at Osaka International (Itami) Airport.

Aircraft passenger boarding bridges are movable passageways that link terminal buildings to aircraft and are used during boarding and disembarkation. This Full-automatic Docking System uses artificial intelligence (AI) and image recognition technology to recognize aircraft doors, and automates the entire process up until completion of the boarding bridge's docking with the press of a button.Existing boarding bridges are operated manually and docking accuracy is affected by the skills of individual operators. Fully automating the process achieves smooth boarding and disembarkation of passengers as well as improves safety by preventing human error.

ShinMaywa Industries will contribute toward maintaining and improving the high level of operation - the lifeline of airports - as well as punctual flights and safe operation by using the company's technological capabilities to address the issues faced by airports today.
