BUILT-IN DD Motor

Developed Two New Mass-produced Models of "Frameless Motor"

Achieving the thinner, lighter weight and lower price demanded by the market while maintaining high performance

February 28, 2020

ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, President and CEO Tatsuyuki Isogawa) has recently developed two new frameless motors for actuators (drive devices) that require high-precision drive control. did.

The new "B06C-15" and "B09C-14" were developed as motors to be installed in actuators for cooperative robot joint drives and wearables (assisted VR) to satisfy the market requirements of "large hollow," "low flatness," and "light weight" at the same time and to offer them at a "low price. By reviewing the structure and automating part of the manufacturing process, we have succeeded in commercializing a product that reflects both improved performance and lower cost (up to 50% less than the conventional type).

Until now, industrial robots have generally been used in environmental separated from human work, but with recent deregulation and advances in safety technology, industrial robots are now being used on the premise that they "work" in the same work space as humans. Collaborative robots have appeared, and an increasing number of corporations are introducing them to alleviate the recent labor shortage. Traditionally, we have provided custom-made high-precision motors that reflect the detailed specifications required by our customers, but in response to this background, we have developed two new motor models for the industrial robot field with mass production specifications and added them to our lineup. has been expanded.

For this development, we received technical cooperation from Yoshikawa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (steel and precision machinery manufacturer, Head Office: Kitakyushu City, president: Kazuyoshi Yoshikawa) in the manufacture of special motor cores.

Since entering direct drive motor market in 1983, our company has targeted markets that require "high-precision rotation" such as hard disk inspection equipment, semiconductor and ultra-precision processing machines, and testing equipment for research institutions. We have been supplying high-output, high-precision motors. Recently, through joint research at the JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) Space Exploration Innovation Hub, we have contributed to the development of the world's best-class compact, high-efficiency motors, and we have top-class technological capabilities in Japan in terms of motor precision. We are proud of

In the future, we will set up a mass production system in preparation for increasing demand for the collaborative robot market and assist suits, and will contribute to solving labor shortages and improving the working environmental at production sites.

1. Features

  1. 1 Succeeded in downsizing by changing the design structure
    • In order to allow wiring etc. to pass through the inside of the motor, we have secured a "large hollow" space that is wider than the conventional model (maximum outer diameter ratio increased by 12.5% for "B09C" and 36% for "B06C").
    • The robot's joints are 75% thinner than conventional models so that the protrusions of the robot's joints are less noticeable.
  2. 2 Changes in structure have made it lighter than the conventional model (maximum 17% reduction for "B09C", 20% reduction for "B06C")

With a view to increasing the robot's payload, we succeeded in reducing the weight by changing the motor structure and optimizing the shape.
