[Product History] Parking System Division’s Mechanical Car Parking Systems

We would like to introduce the history of mechanical car parking systems, a key product of the Parking Systems Division.

The Beginning:
Noticing the increase in on-street parking alongside the spread of passenger vehicles, we developed a tower-type parking facility to make effective use of the available urban space. Beginning in the 1960s, we began supplying the “Rotary Park,” a vertical circulation-type multi-story parking system.

1970s - 1980s:
In the 1970s, demand for mechanical car parking systems increased along with the spread of private vehicles, and in the 1980s, there was a spike in the number of orders we received due to the bubble economy. Further, around this time, in addition to functional aspects such as safety and operability, we began to take design-related demands into consideration as well. In recognition of our efforts, ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. became the first mechanical car parking system manufacturer to receive the Good Design Award.

1990s:
With the arrival of the condominium boom, demand increased for elevator-type models to reduce the noise and vibrations generated during operations of mechanical car parking systems. Thus was the “ELEPARK” born around this time. At the time of its development, it had the distinction of being the fastest elevator in the industry. Ever since, we have continued to refine it, constantly striving to add value through features as strong earthquake resistance and barrier-free accessibility. ELEPARK is one of our core products and currently boasts the top market share in Japan.

2000s - present:
We developed the LoopPark, which allows all pallets to move freely within the system and for the number and position of vehicle entrances and exits to be determined at will. The creation of high value-added mechanical car parking systems that reflect the needs of the times is a never-ending process. This includes, for example, the ability to install such systems in narrow lots that did not lend themselves to such a purpose.
