[Businesses] Introducing the Aircraft Division Commercial Aircraft Business
Aircraft
Introduction to the commercial aircraft div.
In addition to the US-2 STOL Search and Rescue Amphibian, we also manufacture parts for commercial aircraft in the aircraft business, which is the business in which we were originally engaged.
At present, the bulk of our manufacturing consists of parts for the Boeing 787. We have also been involved in the development of main wing spars, which comprise the frame for the main wing of the aircraft and are incorporated into all 787s. The 787 is the first passenger plane in its class to use composite materials for the main wings and related parts. This addresses the need for increased lightness and strength—an ever-present issue in aircraft manufacturing—which has led the 787 to receive acclaim for its fuel efficiency and comfort.
While main wing spars may be considered a component, they are approximately 30 meters long for a single wing, making them a challenging component to manufacture. Still, we have managed to maintain both mass production and stable quality, and we currently manufacture enough of this component every month to supply 10 or more aircraft.
On December 17, 2019, a ceremony was held to commemorate our 1,000th manufactured aircraft.
We will continue to strive for high-quality manufacturing as a company that plays a part in protecting the safety of passengers.
