Why are manhole covers round?
Square or triangular covers may fall into the hole if placed at the wrong angle, but circular covers can never fall in at any angle.
Controlling accumulation of sewage and waste
Sucking up every last bit of sewage and waste
In flat-bottomed pits with no prerotation basin, pumps cannot suck up the last bit of sewage at the bottom. Installing a prerotation basin at the bottom of the lift station helps collect sewage directly beneath the pump so that all of it can be taken up.
The jet valve prevents contaminants from adhering to the side of the lift station.
