• In the anaerobic filter bed tank, the solids suspended in dirty water are removed by a filter, while anaerobic bacteria break down organic matter. The water then moves from chamber 1 to chamber 2, where it is further purified by the same processes.
• In the contact aeration tank, a blower aerates the water and circulates it in contact with an aerobic biofilm on the contact material, further cleaning the water of organic contaminants.
• In the settling tank, solids remaining in the purified water settle out. The clear water at the top of the column moves on to the disinfection tank.
