Received order for “Takarazuka City New Garbage Treatment Facility Development and Operation Project”

ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture; President: Tatsuyuki Isogawa), a member of the group represented by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yasuhiko Hashimoto), has received an order from Takarazuka City (Hyogo Prefecture) for "Takarazuka City New Garbage Treatment Facility Development and Operation Project".
This project will be awarded under the DBO (Design, Build, Operate) method, and will begin with the demolition of the existing facility, followed by the design, construction, and operation of a temporary recycling treatment plant, energy recovery promotion facility, human waste treatment facility, and material recycling promotion facility. We will be responsible for the design, construction, and operation of the temporary recycling plant and material recycling promotion facility.

The project will employ a scrap-and-build approach, in which the existing facility will be demolished and a new facility constructed in stages while operating the existing facility on the current Takarazuka Clean Center site, with all work scheduled for completion in September 2032.
During the construction period, we will cooperate with Takarazuka City and obtain the understanding of the local community while placing the highest priority on safety and consideration for the surrounding environment so as not to impede the continuous operation of waste treatment.
The new material recycling promotion facility we are in charge of has a daily processing capacity of 31.5 tons/5 hours and can handle noncombustible bulky waste, small noncombustible waste, cans and bottles, PET bottles, plastics, paper and cloth, etc.
In addition to the introduction of a vehicle control system that utilizes proprietary AI technology and turnstiles at the general carry-in reception area, this facility will employ an Internet reservation system and other measures to improve safety and convenience for users of the facility in all areas.
Furthermore, through this project, Takarazuka City will realize the following six basic policies.

The design and construction work for this facility will be carried out by a joint venture of four companies, represented by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., our company, Asunaro Aoki Construction Co., Ltd., and Takamatsu Construction Co., Ltd., and the operational work will be carried out by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. The project will be carried out by Green Park Takarazuka Co., Ltd., a special purpose company (SPC) in which a total of four companies, including the Company, Shinki Corporation, ShinMaywa Waste Technology, Ltd. have invested.
To date, our company has operated and managed over 20 refuse resources recycling facility and refuse transfer station across the country, we play a part in raising environmental awareness in the region with providing facility tours and environmental education programs for local residents. Utilizing that know-how, in addition to the construction and operation of this facility in Takarazuka City, we will contribute to waste recycling and the promotion of a decarbonized society, and by achieving stable operation for many years, we aim to operate facilities that provide peace of mind and local community.
