History of ShinMaywa's Parking Systems
1920

Founding

In 1920, Kawanishi Aircraft (now ShinMaywa Industries) completed its first aircraft, the Kawanishi Type 1, just ten months after its founding. The following year, it earned high acclaim at a civil aviation competition, becoming a symbol of the company's engineering excellence and its principle of self-reliance.

1963

Decision made to develop parking systems

Amid rapid urbanization and the spread of automobiles, the business was launched in anticipation of future parking shortages. What began with just three members in a single office at headquarters was a pioneering effort to address urban land challenges.

1964

Delivered first system

Just one year after development began, the first parking tower system was delivered. Despite the small team, it was put into practical use in a short period of time, marking the first step in building the foundation of the business.

In 1968, the decision to develop the Z-Park (Puzzle-type) was aimed at establishing the tower parking business as a full-fledged enterprise.

The delivery, in spite of problems unique to snowy regions, widely promoted the advantages of the puzzle system design and spurred demand.

Commercialized elevator-type tower system ELEPARK

Developed low-noise and low vibration, high-speed elevator-type parking system: ELEPARK.

It drew attention as a solution to the noise and vibration issues that were under close scrutiny at the time.

Delivered first elevator-type tower system ELEPARK

Delivered first ELEPARK in 1991. The elevator system, which captured market needs, went on to become the mainstream system in today's market, making ELEPARK a core product for ShinMaywa.

1993

Launched Fully Automated Cart system Sips

In response to customer needs, we developed a large-scale underground parking system that incorporated the latest technology at the time.

Held first maintenance skills competition

The business unit started this initiative to improve maintenance skill levels for mechanical parking systems.

2007

Developed a barrier-free version of ELEPARK

2009

ELEPARK deliveries exceeded 1,000 units

A space-saving, high-capacity system capable of accommodating heights up to 100 m. With features such as low vibration and a steel-frame structure that follows building sway, this system was specially designed for high-rise condominiums and has become the mainstream parking format in today's high-rise residences.

Launched EV charging features for ELEPARK

Launched ELEPARK equipped with charging features for electronic vehicles (EV)
Charging capabilities were later added to all other models, including the puzzle system.

Reorganization of Tokyu's Parking Systems into the ShinMaywa Group

Through a corporate split, the Parking Systems Division of Tokyu Car Corporation and its subsidiary Tokyu Parking Systems Co., Ltd. each underwent a trade name change and became part of the ShinMaywa Group.

Launched Loop Park

Developed a hybrid, fully automated, multi-storied system. The position and number of entrances/exits can be freely configured, helping reduce the area required for driveways.
