First Order Received for Mechanical Car Parking System in Thailand

Manufacturing of main parts also to be handled locally

August 30, 2019

ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Takarazuka-shi, Hyogo; President & CEO: Tatsuyuki Isogawa) (the "Company") has received the first order for its elevator-type car parking system, ELEPARK, in Bangkok, Thailand, and commenced local manufacturing operations in July 2019.

After a distributor agreement was entered into in spring this year with the Thai mechanical car parking systems sales company, General Automatic Cars Parking System Co., Ltd. ("G-PARK"), the order was received in June for installation as a parking system showroom to be completed in March 2020. The ELEPARK showroom, which has glass outer walls, incorporates a variety of optional specifications. The facility will enable visitors to experience the abundant variations, high quality, safety and comfort of the ShinMaywa brand, including the ability to add various functions and specifications according to the needs of owners and users.

As we have been making efforts to expand the scale of our key businesses as measures for improving corporate value by increasing revenue, we are focusing on the overseas expansion of our leading products that have been sold mainly in Japan. In the mechanical car parking systems business, the majority of sales have been in the Japanese market for reasons of product cost, quality assurance in relation to manufacturing and local works, and the after-sales service systems essential for maintaining the functioning of the delivered products. However, we have now positioned Thailand, which has experienced remarkable economic growth in recent years, as a strategic region, and have made inroads into the region.

Within the ASEAN region, Thailand in particular has made significant progress in urban development. Although laws requiring the establishment of parking lots have been enacted in line with the increased penetration rate of cars, the provision of a parking environment as urban infrastructure is insufficient. The Company has the ability to contribute to the provision of that parking environment by demonstrating in Thailand for the first time its strengths in terms of its wealth of expertise in relation to parking facilities acquired to date, its comprehensive ability to make proposals and its provision of high quality products and maintenance.

G-PARK is a sales company for mechanical car parking systems, with the second largest share in the Thai market. In April this year, it entered into a distributor agreement with the Company in relation to ELEPARK, taking up the position of providing sales and installation work, maintenance and after-sales service of the Company's products. In August, it received the first order in a development project by a private developer, and it aims to complete two ELEPARK (middle entry type) towers accommodating 32 mid-size passenger cars in a Bangkok office building by June 2020. In future, G-PARK employees will be dispatched to Japan for the purpose of learning maintenance and after-sales service techniques. They will also receive training from the Company so systems can be provided in Thailand with the same level of quality and safety as in Japan.

Also, the showroom planned to be opened next spring, as a symbol of the cooperation between the Company and G-PARK, will establish the various types of expertise and overseas business structures, with the aim of future business expansion in the countries of Southeast Asia.
