President's Message
Thank you for visiting ShinMaywa's Website. I am Yoshihiro Onishi, president of ShinMaywa Industries, Ltd.
I joined this company back in 1968, when Japan was in the midst of a period of rapid economic growth. It was a time when ShinMaywa was on its way toward expanding its business portfolio by introducing new technologies to existing businesses, which resulted in the delivery of the first PS-1 flying boat to Japan's Defense Agency (now the Ministry of Defense), and by forming a technical alliance with an American partner for the manufacture of aircraft passenger boarding bridges.
After overcoming one difficulty after another, including the oil crisis and the bursting of the bubble economy, we were able to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our foundation in November 2009, driven by core businesses featuring our source technologies, namely, aircraft, special-purpose trucks, and industrial machinery.
In 2010, the ShinMaywa Group established a new Group Philosophy and Brand Statement, "Brighten Your Future," to turn over a new leaf and make a fresh start.
The "Your" in this Statement refers to society in general, as well as the entire range of our stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, and employees, who all mean a great deal to the company.
By adding "Your" to the words "Brighten" and "Future," we express through this statement our resolve to contribute to a better tomorrow, and our desire to play an indispensable role in society.
True to our resolve, we will go back to our roots and aim to be a truly valuable business group, where all of our employees value the importance of discovering the essence of things and unite individual efforts to generate growth.
I have renewed my determination to work diligently to gain the acceptance of our customers, shareholders, and other stakeholder groups. I would like you to count on us in all of our future endeavors.
